The Welcome Stranger Monument, located on Welcome Stranger Road near Moliagul, commemorates the discovery of the world's largest alluvial gold nugget in 1869. The monument features a granite obelisk, erected in 1897, marking the spot where miners John Deason and Richard Oates unearthed the 69 kg nugget. Visitors can enjoy a picnic area equipped with tables, wood-fired barbecues, and an undercover shelter. A walking track offers insights into the area's gold mining history, including the house sites of Deason and Oates, a Chinese grave, and the remains of a Chinese camp. Dogs are welcome on leads.
