The Weipa Aquatic and Sports Precinct, affectionately known as 'the WASP', is a state-of-the-art recreation centre that opened in October 2021. It features three professional-grade tennis courts with lighting, three squash courts, a netted indoor pitch suitable for cricket and soccer, a fully equipped gymnasium, a yoga and dance studio, a creche, and a kiosk. The precinct also encompasses the existing Storm Surge Shelter and the Weipa Aquatic Centre, offering a comprehensive membership and centralized facility booking service for all Weipa Town Authority-managed community venues.
