Gibraltar Range, NSW

The Washpool walking track in Washpool National Park, near Glen Innes, offers a moderately challenging 8.5 km loop through ancient Gondwana Rainforest. Starting at Coombadjha campground, the trail winds through gentle hills, leading to one of the largest stands of coachwood forest in NSW. Hikers can enjoy picturesque waterfalls, spectacular views, and opportunities to spot rainforest locals such as satin bower birds and lyrebirds. Summit Creek provides a great spot for a break, and the beautiful surroundings make for superb nature photography. Picnic along the way or head back for a barbecue lunch at the campground, where you might be tempted to camp overnight.
