
Wallumbilla South is a rural locality in Queensland's Maranoa Region, covering approximately 775.4 square kilometers and home to around 80 residents. Situated immediately south of Wallumbilla, it is bordered by the Warrego Highway and the Western railway line to the north. The Roma-Condamine Road traverses its southwest corner. The area features four state forests in the southeast: Wallabella State Forests 1 and 2, Tinowan State Forest, and Yalebone State Forest 1. Land use includes crop cultivation and grazing on native vegetation. The name "Wallumbilla" is believed to derive from the Mandandanji language, meaning "plenty of jew fish."
