Nestled beneath the majestic Gulaga Mountain, Wallaga Lake is the largest lake in southern New South Wales. Its serene waters offer excellent fishing, swimming, boating, sailing, and water skiing opportunities. The surrounding bushland is perfect for bushwalking and birdwatching. Picnic and toilet facilities are available at various locations around the lake. Accommodation options include three caravan parks with lakeside camping sites, cabins, and boat hire. Beauty Point and Wallaga Lake Heights provide stunning sunset views over the Great Dividing Range. The lake holds cultural significance for the Yuin-Monaro people, being home to Umbarra, the black duck, their totem. Merriman's Island, within the lake, is gazetted as an Aboriginal Place and is not accessible to the public. Wallaga Lake is located seven kilometres north of Bermagui along Wallaga Lake Road.
