Dirk Hartog Island, WA

Urchin Point Campground, nestled within Dirk Hartog Island National Park, offers a secluded wilderness camping experience accessible exclusively by four-wheel drive. This campground is renowned for its excellent fishing opportunities, particularly along the island's rugged western coastline. While camping, visitors are encouraged to practice responsible fishing and adhere to local regulations to preserve the island's natural beauty. The area is also home to the Return to 1616 Ecological Restoration Project, aiming to reintroduce threatened species to the island. To protect these efforts, campers should avoid driving between dusk and dawn, as this is when many of these species are most active. Please note that campfires are not permitted, and campers should bring sufficient drinking water for their stay. Bookings are required and can be made through the Dirk Hartog Eco Island Lodge.
