Nestled beside the Colo River and adjacent to the Wollemi National Park, Upper Colo Reserve offers a serene wilderness camping experience. The 13.8-hectare reserve features two-thirds native bushland, providing a tranquil setting for nature enthusiasts. Campsites are limited to 150 people per night, so advance bookings are essential. The reserve is open year-round, offering basic amenities including cold bore-water showers and toilets. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash. Please note, the reserve is isolated with no mobile or wireless connection available. Access involves a narrow, winding gravel road not suitable for caravans. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own drinking water and firewood, as collecting from the reserve or national park is prohibited. The motto for the Colo Wilderness is: "Take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints."
