Umeewarra Aboriginal Community

Umeewarra Aboriginal Community, located on Simmons Street in Davenport, South Australia, is a vibrant Indigenous community with a rich history. Established in 1964, it evolved from the Umeewarra Mission Children's Home, which began in 1937 as a home and school for Aboriginal children. The community is situated near Lake Umeewarra, a significant site in the Seven Sisters Tjukurpa, an important Aboriginal cultural narrative. Today, Umeewarra continues to honor its heritage while fostering a strong sense of community and cultural pride among its residents.
