
Tuan State Forest, located approximately 20 minutes southeast of Maryborough and 45 minutes northeast of Gympie, offers a serene coastal retreat along the Great Sandy Strait. The forest features extensive exotic pine plantations, remnants of eucalypt forests, coastal wallum, melaleuca wetlands, and mangrove-lined estuaries. Visitors can enjoy activities such as boating, canoeing, fishing, camping, cycling, horseriding, and trail bike riding. The area is also known for its wildflower displays during late winter and spring, as well as bird watching opportunities. Dogs are permitted on leashes, and campfires are allowed under certain conditions.
