Townsville Sports Precinct

Nestled between the coast and the iconic Castle Hill, the Townsville Sports Precinct is a premier destination for sports and physical activity. Known locally as 'The Red Track,' it features three indoor multipurpose courts suitable for basketball, netball, futsal, volleyball, badminton, and wheelchair sports. The 400m World Athletics Certified track includes facilities for long and triple jump, hammer throw, discus, steeplechase, water jumps, and pole vault. Two outdoor fields with lighting accommodate rugby league, rugby union, and football. The 300m² gym offers state-of-the-art strength and conditioning equipment. Conference facilities include three meeting rooms equipped with projectors, Wi-Fi, audio equipment, and kitchenettes. The 900-seat grandstand features corporate and broadcast boxes, ticket booths, canteen, cooking, and bar facilities. The precinct is fully accessible, ensuring inclusivity for all visitors. Sports House Townsville serves as the administrative hub for various state, regional, and national sport and recreation groups. Regular and casual facility hire is available for the athletics track, fields, indoor courts, gym, and conference facilities. The venue has been recognized with awards, including the 2023 Australian Institute of Architects' Regional Awards for North Queensland Building of the Year and a commendation for Public Architecture.
