The Thomson River Swing Bridge, located at Swing Bridge Drive, Longford VIC 3851, is a historic engineering marvel constructed between 1880 and 1883. Designed by John Grainger, it was the first movable bridge in Victoria, allowing steamers to pass between Sale and Melbourne. The bridge spans 61 meters, with a central swing span of nearly 46 meters. Restored in the early 2000s, it remains operational, opening every Saturday and Sunday between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm, and on the second Wednesday of each month between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm.
