Venue

Forster, NSW

Along the Bicentennial Walk in Forster, The Tanks is a unique rock formation that creates a natural swimming hole, ideal for families and snorkelers. The name originates from steel ship tanks used in the 1890s to supply water for steam engines transporting quarried rocks for the Forster breakwall. At high tide, the area fills with water, and as the tide recedes, a sandy base emerges. The surrounding rock formations protect swimmers from incoming waves, providing a safe environment for children. Access is via Head Street, with nearby picnic tables and public toilets. Please note, this location is not patrolled by lifeguards.
