The Pines Flora and Fauna Reserve (Parks Victoria)

Nestled in Frankston North, The Pines Flora and Fauna Reserve offers a serene escape into nature. This 108-hectare reserve features diverse landscapes, including heathland, bushland dunes, and revegetation areas, providing habitats for a variety of native wildlife. Visitors can explore a network of gravel and sand trails, such as the Panorama Circuit, which offers panoramic views of Melbourne, the Dandenong Ranges, and Port Phillip Bay. The reserve is home to over 210 indigenous plant species, including vibrant wildflowers that bloom in spring. Wildlife enthusiasts may encounter swamp wallabies, echidnas, and a variety of bird species, including the New Holland Honeyeater. The trails are dog-friendly, with dogs required to be on-leash to protect the flora and fauna. Picnic tables are available near the Ballarto Road entrance, though the reserve does not have toilet or barbecue facilities, emphasizing its role as a nature conservation space.
