Originally established as St John's Home for Aged Men, it later became St Christopher's Lodge, a farm school for boys. From 1965 to 1987, it served as a Franciscan friary, and subsequently as the Brookfield Centre for Christian Spirituality. In 2021, UnitingCare Queensland acquired the property, ensuring its continued role as a community-focused heritage oasis. The site remains a cherished place for worship, reflection, and community engagement.
