The Monolith

The Monolith, a massive granite boulder perched at 1,464 meters above sea level, offers a captivating 360-degree view of Mount Buffalo National Park. Accessible via a 1.8 km circuit track from the Gorge car park, the well-maintained trail features stone steps and traverses a ravine, immersing hikers in the park's rugged beauty. Along the way, native wildflowers bloom in late spring and summer, enhancing the scenic experience. At the summit, visitors are greeted by the impressive balancing rock, providing panoramic vistas over the plateau. The return loop passes the Snow Clearing Depot and can extend to the Gorge Day Visitor Area, offering additional exploration opportunities.
