
Nestled in the Kohinoor Hills of Kangaroo Island, The Islander Estate Vineyards crafts elegant, cool-climate wines that blend French winemaking heritage with the island's unique terroir. Established by Bordeaux winemaker Jacques Lurton, the 11-hectare vineyard produces varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Sangiovese, Shiraz, Grenache, Viognier, and Semillon. The on-site winery utilizes equipment imported from France, including large wooden vats and Bordeaux-style barrels for aging, settling, and blending. Visitors can enjoy guided tastings in the intimate cellar door, complemented by picnic-style regional platters. The estate is open Thursday to Tuesday, 12 pm to 5 pm.
