The Dismal Swamp is a rural locality in South Australia's Limestone Coast region, approximately 361 kilometers southeast of Adelaide and 19 kilometers north of Mount Gambier. Established in 1999, it encompasses a mix of agricultural land and conservation areas, including the Telford Scrub Conservation Park. The Riddoch Highway traverses the area from north to south, and the former Mount Gambier railway line runs through it. The name "Dismal Swamp" has historical significance, dating back to 1845 when it was used for an occupation license near Tarpeena.
