Nestled at the mouth of the Turon River within Turon National Park, The Diggings campground offers 20 unmarked, unpowered sites suitable for tents, camper trailers, and vehicle-based camping. Accessible exclusively by 4WD vehicles due to unsealed roads and river crossings, this serene spot is ideal for bushwalking, mountain biking, trout fishing, canoeing, and 4WD touring. The grassy riverbanks, lined with she-oak, are frequented by kangaroos and wombats at dawn and dusk. Visitors can also explore remnants of early mining activities that once thrived in the area. While there are no camping fees, a $6 booking fee applies. Please note, the nearest general store is in Capertee, and it's advisable to check weather conditions before visiting, as roads can become boggy and river crossings impassable after heavy rains.
