The Convict Church at Port Arthur, constructed between 1836 and 1837, stands as a testament to the convict labor that built it. Designed in the Gothic Revival style, it featured a prominent tower, crenellations, and pointed arch windows. The church could accommodate up to 1,000 worshippers, with services attended by both convicts and free settlers. In 1884, a bushfire destroyed the interior, leaving only the stone walls intact. Today, the ruins are a popular venue for weddings and community events, with a sound installation of the original bells heard throughout the day. The site is open daily from 9:00 am until dusk, with access included in the Port Arthur Historic Site entry pass.
