The Broadway, located at 6 Rosebud Parade, Rosebud VIC 3939, is a historic venue with a rich cultural heritage. Originally opened in December 1928 as a Silent Picture Theatre, it quickly became a cornerstone of Rosebud's cultural life. Designed by the esteemed architectural firm H. Vivian Taylor and Soilleux, renowned for their expertise in theatre acoustics and design, the theatre was a beacon for cinema screenings and community dances. Purchased by the Whitaker family in 1930, it remained an enduring symbol of Rosebud's rich artistic heritage. In the 1950s, it became a dance Palais, then in the 70s, the Broadway ceased operating, and has been used for a range of different commercial activities until now. Now, under the stewardship of Barnacle Studios, The Broadway is undergoing an 18-month revitalisation, restoring its legacy while introducing new opportunities for local artists and the wider community.
