Nestled approximately 12 kilometers north of Balgowan, The Bamboos Bush Campground offers a serene coastal retreat on the northwest coastline of Yorke Peninsula. Accessible via a coastal track from Balgowan, this campground is best suited for smaller caravans, campers, tents, traditional camp setups, or swags. The site is located at the base of sand dunes, providing protection from on-shore winds, with beach access just a short climb over the dunes. Please note that mobile phone coverage is limited at the campground. The closest bin bank and dump point are at Maitland Oval, approximately 8 kilometers away. Maitland offers various facilities, including a supermarket, pharmacy, butcher, hotel, petrol station, police station, museum, ATMs, hospital, various shops, skate park, playground, and a Visitor Information Outlet. Camping fees are $20 per night, $100 per week, or $300 per month, with discounts available for ratepayers. A permit is required for each vehicle staying at the campground. Permits can be obtained online or by contacting a Yorke Peninsula Council office before entering the campground. Please be aware that toilet paper is not supplied to bush campground toilets, so come prepared with your own supply. Consider the environment you enjoy while camping and ‘leave no trace’ for others to find.
