Texas Rabbit Works

The Texas Rabbit Works, located at 40 Flemming Street in Texas, Queensland, is a museum dedicated to preserving the history of Australia's rabbit industry. Established in 1928, the Riverside Freezing Works processed up to 6,000 rabbits daily, playing a pivotal role in the local economy during the Great Depression. The museum features interactive displays, including a children's area with audio exhibits, a recording booth for personal stories, and a film room showcasing historical documentaries. Visitors can also learn about Akubra hat production and explore the adjacent historical Butter Factory museum. Open on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and by appointment, the museum offers a unique glimpse into a significant chapter of Australian history.
