Located along Mount Lindesay Road in Tenterfield, the World War II Tank Traps are a significant historical site. Constructed during the war, these defensive structures were part of Australia's inland defense system, designed to impede enemy tanks. The site features rows of wooden posts and a concrete retaining wall, strategically placed to force tanks to expose their vulnerable underbelly. Visitors can explore a one-kilometer walking track that winds through the rockfall and down the gully to Thunderbolt’s Hideout, offering a glimpse into the area's rich wartime history.
