Takone is a rural locality in Tasmania's North West region, approximately 28 kilometers southwest of Wynyard. Situated within the Waratah-Wynyard local government area, it is bordered by the Inglis River to the north and the Jessie River to the west. The area is characterized by its natural beauty, offering opportunities for bird watching and bush walks. The 2016 census recorded a population of 81 residents. The name "Takone" is believed to be derived from an Aboriginal word meaning "sigh."
