Located on the southern tip of Dirk Hartog Island, Surf Point is a sanctuary zone within the Shark Bay Marine Park. The eastern part of this zone features coral communities thriving in three to four meters of water, shielded from oceanic swells by a rocky platform reef. Visitors can encounter a diverse array of marine life, including vase corals, plate corals, various staghorn species, and numerous tropical fish such as parrotfish, butterflyfish, wrasse, angelfish, and snapper. The area offers excellent opportunities for snorkeling, swimming, and scuba diving. When planning a visit, it's advisable to travel with a personal location beacon (PLB) for safety. Diving and snorkeling should be conducted during slack tide, and care should be taken not to anchor on fragile corals. Always remain alert for boat traffic.
