
Sundown is a rural locality in Queensland's Cassowary Coast Region, approximately 3.3 km north of Innisfail and 88.3 km south of Cairns. The area encompasses 6.0 square kilometers and has a population of 145 residents. Geographically, Sundown is bordered by the Johnstone River to the north and east, with elevations ranging from 10 to 30 meters above sea level. The land is primarily used for sugarcane cultivation and rural residential housing, connected by a network of cane tramways. Historically, in the 1880s, Sundown was a hub for Melanesian workers transporting goods along the Johnstone River, which led to its name.
