Sundown National Park, located on the Queensland–New South Wales border, is a rugged wilderness area featuring sharp ridges and steep-sided gorges. The Severn River and its tributaries, along with over 150 species of birds, can be discovered via maintained walking tracks, challenging remote walks, or the four-wheel-drive (4WD) track. Camping areas at The Broadwater and Nundubbermere Falls are accessible by conventional vehicles, while a rough 4WD track leads to camping areas at Red Rock Gorge, Reedy Waterhole, and Burrows Waterhole. Bush camping is permitted throughout the park. Visitors can enjoy activities such as fishing, swimming, canoeing, and hiking. The park is situated 250 km south-west of Brisbane via Stanthorpe and 70 km north-west of Tenterfield.
