Venue

Seal Rocks, NSW

Perched on a dramatic headland east of Seal Rocks village, Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse offers panoramic coastal views and serves as a prime whale-watching spot. Completed in 1875, it was the first lighthouse designed by colonial architect James Barnet and features an external stairway, making it one of only two such towers in Australia. Originally built to guide ships along the rocky coastline, the lighthouse has been a beacon for sailors since its construction. The adjacent Lighthouse Keepers' quarters and outbuildings have been refurbished to provide holiday accommodation for visitors. The area is also a top spot for watching whales as they migrate along the coast.
