Designed by Tasmanian-born architect Guy Crick, it stands as one of Australia's finest examples of late Art Deco cinema architecture. After operating as a cinema until 1969, the building was repurposed as a charity store for several decades. In 2018, it was revitalized as an independent cinema, featuring a bar and café that serve quality Tasmanian food and beverages.
