Stansbury, SA

Housed in a 1910-era building that once served as the town's school and headmaster's residence, the Stansbury Museum offers a comprehensive glimpse into the area's rich history. Exhibits feature dolls, clocks, gemstones, bottles, and cameras, alongside a clothing room and refurbished spaces that recreate early regional life. A dedicated reading and research room provides access to cemetery records and family trees, assisting visitors in exploring local genealogy. Outdoor displays include farming tools, motoring paraphernalia, engines, and a scale model of the Riddle Windmill. Open Sundays and Wednesdays from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with extended hours during January, the museum welcomes tours and catering by prior arrangement. Visitors often remark, "It's so much bigger than it looks from the outside."
