South Walker Creek is an open-cut coal mine located 35 kilometers west of Nebo in Queensland's Bowen Basin. Operating since 1996, it employs a multi-bench, open-cut mining method utilizing draglines, trucks, and hydraulic excavators. The mine produces up to 7 million tonnes per annum of high-quality, low-volatile Pulverised Coal Injection (PCI) coal, renowned for its performance in steel blast furnaces. Stanmore Resources acquired BHP's 80% interest in the mine in May 2022, becoming its operator.
