Sts Peter and Paul's Old Cathedral in Goulburn, New South Wales, is a remarkable example of 19th-century Gothic ecclesiastical architecture. Constructed between 1871 and 1890, it is uniquely built from diorite porphyrite, or greenstone, making it the only church of its kind in Australia, possibly the world. The cathedral houses Australia's only unaltered William Hill organ, renowned for its exceptional sound quality. The parish was established in 1839, with the original church completed in 1848. The cathedral's design and construction reflect the craftsmanship of architects Andrea Stombuco and Charles Spadacini. Over the years, the cathedral has undergone several renovations, including the addition of a marble floor and high altar in 1927. Today, it serves as a parish church and is a significant landmark in Goulburn, attracting visitors interested in its rich history and architectural beauty.
