The St Lawrence Wetlands, located along St Lawrence Connection Road in Queensland, are a vital component of the Broadsound Wetlands system, recognized in the Directory of Important Wetlands in Australia. This expansive area encompasses deep open water lagoons, shallow vegetated swamps, and coastal Melaleuca Swamps, providing a diverse habitat for numerous species. Visitors can observe a variety of wildlife, including fish, insects, turtles, snakes, frogs, and over 55 waterbird species, such as the Magpie Geese and the threatened Australian Painted Snipe. The wetlands' depth varies seasonally, being highest between January and April and lowest between September and November. Interpretive signs along the walking track offer insights into the area's ecological significance. Each year, the St Lawrence Wetlands Weekend celebrates this unique ecosystem with a three-day event featuring cultural activities, local cuisine, and environmental education, attracting visitors from across Australia.
