The area encompasses 71.8 square kilometers and has a population of 195 residents. The New England Highway traverses the region from north to south, with Gatton-Clifton Road passing to the northwest. Land use is predominantly dedicated to cropping, complemented by some grazing on native vegetation. A notable historical landmark is St Matthew's Anglican Church, dedicated on 8 March 1876 by Bishop Matthew Hale.
