The South East Ridge of Mount Barney offers a challenging ascent to the East Peak, requiring a high level of fitness, bush navigation skills, and rock-scrambling experience. This steep, strenuous climb involves exposed rock faces and sheer cliff edges, with sections of very steep ridges and several rock scrambles and climbs. The route is unmarked and undefined, necessitating the use of GPS or topographic maps for navigation.
