Nestled along Mount Emu Creek, the Skipton Court House and Police Residence, established in the 1860s, stands as a testament to Victoria's colonial history. Relocated from Beaufort in 1867, this portable courthouse is among the few surviving of its kind in the state. In 1910, a police residence was added to the site. Today, the Skipton Historical Society operates the courthouse as a local history museum, while the police residence serves as a venue for meetings and displays of the society's extensive collection. The property, situated within the Stewart Park recreational area, also features police stables and a covered BBQ area, offering visitors a glimpse into the area's rich heritage.
