Nestled in the rolling hills of Mount Bryan East, the restored childhood home of Sir Hubert Wilkins offers a glimpse into the early life of this renowned Australian explorer. Born George Hubert Wilkins in 1888, he became a pioneering aviator and polar explorer. The homestead, known as Netfield, was meticulously restored between 1999 and 2001, thanks to the efforts of dedicated volunteers and support from the National Trust and the Regional Council of Goyder. Visitors can access the homestead by obtaining a key from the Hallett Olde School Gallery, Hallett Store, or Hallett Hotel. Please note, the homestead operates without electricity, so daylight visits are recommended.
