
Rye Park Wind Farm, located near Yass in New South Wales, is the state's largest operating wind farm, boasting a capacity of 396 megawatts. The facility comprises 66 Vestas V162-6.0 MW turbines, each standing 200 meters tall. It generates approximately 1,188 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually, enough to power around 215,000 homes. Over 55% of its output is supplied to Newcrest Mining's Cadia gold mine under a 15-year agreement, while the remaining 45% is contracted with AGL Energy. The wind farm also contributes to the local community through annual funding and support for regional initiatives.
