Richmans Enginehouse, constructed between 1867 and 1869, was a pivotal component of the Moonta Mines' concentrating plant, operational until 1923. Designed by engineer Frederick May, it featured a concealed roof and housed a 32-inch Cornish beam engine. The engine ceased operation in 1917, and the building, along with surrounding structures, was salvaged in 1925. Today, visitors can explore the site via a walking trail that offers access to the enginehouse and lookout points on the adjacent 20-meter-high tailings heap, providing panoramic views of the district.
