Established in 1940, it features a post office, Lutheran church, town hall, and Ramco Primary School. The name "Ramco" originates from the Aboriginal word "Bogorampko," referring to a mythical superior tribe. Ramco is part of the District Council of Loxton Waikerie, within the federal division of Barker and the state electoral district of Chaffey.
