The Railway Institute in Wynyard, Tasmania, was established in the 1930s to provide recreational, social, and educational facilities for employees of the Tasmanian Government Railways (TGR) and their families. The institute's hall featured offices, a library, a billiards room, a kitchen, and various sporting and social amenities. Over time, as passenger services ceased and employee numbers declined, the institute's facilities were sold, with the Wynyard hall being among the last to be disposed of.
