Purga Elders & Descendants Aboriginal Corporation

The Purga Elders & Descendants Aboriginal Corporation, established in 1992, is dedicated to preserving the heritage of the Purga Mission, which operated from 1914 to 1948. Located at 587 Ipswich Boonah Road, Purga, Queensland, the corporation manages the historic Purga Aboriginal Cemetery, a significant site for the local Aboriginal community. The cemetery, listed on the Queensland Heritage Register, serves as a resting place for individuals associated with the Purga Creek Mission and their descendants. The corporation also represents the descendants of former residents of the nearby Deebing Creek Mission.
