Discover the PS Providence historic site in Kinchega National Park, where the remnants of the 1872 paddle steamer explosion stand along the Darling River. The blast, heard as far as the Kinchega Woolshed, tragically claimed all but one life aboard. Today, visitors can picnic under majestic gum trees, often accompanied by kingfishers, egrets, and black kites. The site is accessible via unsealed roads suitable for 2WD vehicles in dry conditions. Please note, park entry fees apply, and facilities are limited; bring essentials like water, a hat, and sunscreen.
