Portland’s Community Garden

Portland Community Garden, located at 81 Henty Street, offers a welcoming space for all community members to engage in gardening and share in the harvest. Established in 2013, the garden spans approximately 3.5 acres and is open to the public 24/7. It features raised garden beds, universal access paths, and both individual plots and shared garden areas. The garden hosts a variety of produce, including pumpkins, tomatoes, apples, and other vegetables. Additionally, it maintains two active beehives and produces its own compost. Membership is available for a small annual fee, offering benefits such as voting rights at the AGM, discounts on garden materials, and access to water and compost at no additional cost. The garden is managed by the Portland Community Garden Land-Care Group Inc, a local community group dedicated to fostering a stronger, healthier, and more empowered Portland community.
