Port Stephens Fisheries Office

The Port Stephens Fisheries Institute, located at Taylors Beach Road, Taylors Beach NSW 2316, is a leading aquaculture research facility in Australia. Situated approximately 10 km from Nelson Bay, the institute is part of a broader complex of fisheries-focused sites, including Narrandera and Grafton Fisheries Centres, and the Batemans Bay and Coffs Harbour Fisheries Offices. The institute offers various specialist research and meeting facilities available to the public, and regularly hosts tours and open days. It is surrounded by the Port Stephens Great Lakes Marine Park, a diverse area encompassing beaches, seagrass beds, mangroves, saltmarsh, and open waters. Established in the early 1970s, the institute has grown to employ approximately 150 people across five divisions.
