Port Elliot, SA

Perched atop Freeman's Nob in Port Elliot, the 7.7-meter limestone obelisk, constructed in 1852, served as a vital navigational aid for ships entering the harbor. Its blue flag, visible from 15 nautical miles, signaled unsafe conditions in the channel between Pullen Island and the breakwater. Today, the obelisk offers panoramic views of Horseshoe Bay and is accessible via coastal walking trails. While there are no facilities on-site, the smooth path ensures accessibility for all visitors. Please note that the obelisk underwent repairs in late 2024 due to storm damage.
