Pooginook Conservation Park, established in 1970, spans 2,851 hectares of mallee scrub and low sand dunes in South Australia's Riverland region. The northern area features dense mallee scrub, providing shelter to kangaroos, echidnas, hairy-nosed wombats, fat-tailed dunnarts, and the rare malleefowl. The southern section, once used for wheat farming, offers open mallee landscapes. The park is a haven for birdwatching, with species like black-eared miners and various honeyeaters. During spring, colorful mallee plants bloom, enhancing the park's natural beauty. Camping is available, accessible to conventional vehicles, though some boundary roads require 4WD.
