Pilungah Reserve, formerly known as Cravens Peak Reserve, is a 233,000-hectare sanctuary in central-west Queensland, Australia. Renamed in July 2021 to honor the Wangkamadla people's native title rights, the reserve encompasses diverse landscapes, including gibber plains, red sandy dunes, semi-permanent waterholes, and Coolabah woodlands. It is home to one of the world's richest reptile assemblages, featuring species like the rare Woma python and the nationally vulnerable Mulgara. The reserve also protects significant plant species such as Pituri, Mulga, Coolabah, and Red-bud Mallee. The Toko and Tooma ranges, rich with 500-million-year-old fossils, and the Mulligan River, which snakes along the northeastern boundary, add to the area's ecological significance. Pilungah serves as a vital refuge for wildlife, offering an oasis for desert animals during dry periods.
