
Pickanjinnie is a rural locality in Queensland's Maranoa Region, approximately 34 km east of Roma. The area encompasses about 174.4 square kilometers and has a population of around 30 residents. Historically, it was home to the Poybah Provisional School, which operated from 1896 until its closure circa 1926. The name "Pickanjinnie" is derived from an Aboriginal term meaning "place of land and water where the tortoise goes." Today, the locality is known for its serene landscapes and historical significance.
