Piccaninnie Ponds Conservation Park, located near Wye, South Australia, is a renowned wetland area celebrated for its crystal-clear waters and unique karst landscape. The park features three main underwater attractions: the First Pond, a 10-meter deep depression; the Chasm, a sinkhole exceeding 100 meters in depth; and the Cathedral, an enclosed area with limestone formations reaching about 35 meters deep. These features offer exceptional opportunities for cave diving and snorkeling, with permits required for water activities. On land, visitors can enjoy walking trails through coastal wattle and bearded heath, leading to a lookout with panoramic views of the wetlands, bamboo reeds, and bulrushes. The park is also home to diverse birdlife, including the orange-bellied parrot and the Australasian bittern. Please note that as of March 22, 2025, the park is closed for immersive water activities until further notice to allow for the regeneration of aquatic vegetation and fauna species.
